Dr. Wojciech Pisula studied chemical engineering (1996-2001) at the University of Applied Science Osnabrück and at the University of Wales, Swansea, where he gained his Master of Science. During his diploma thesis he worked on the compatibilization of various blends of immiscible polymers in the group of Professor Jacek Piglowski at the Technical University of Wrocław in the Institute for Organic Technology and Synthetic Materials in collaboration with Professor Claudia Kummerlöwe (Dept. Material Sciences and Chemical Engineering) at the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück. In 2001, he joined the group of Professor Klaus Müllen at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, where he completed his dissertation 2005. There, he focused on the control of the supramolecular self-organization of discotic liquid crystalline polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with a strong interest on their application in electronic devices. During this time, he worked in the department of Polymer Physics under the supervision of Professor Tadeusz Pakula. At the moment he continues his research as a guest scientist.

Research Interests:

All aspects concerning the self-organization in organic materials:

- investigation of supramolecular structures

- control over supramolecular organizations on various dimensions

- relation between molecular architecture, long-range order and macroscopic properties

- implementation of self-assembled organic systems in field-effect transistors and photovoltaics
