By train

Mainz is located fairly centrally at the junction between two major German railway lines.
From experience, US travel agencies tend to have problems in gaining access to European train schedules.

Once arrived at "Mainz Hauptbahnhof", continue by taxi or by bus.

By plane

At Frankfurt airport there are two train stations:
  a) the regional station at the underground of terminal 1
  b) the long distance station, to which there is a 10-minute walk

The "Sky Train" (free) travels between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. From there the way to the stations is signposted.
We recommend you take an S-train (S8), the Regional express or the City Express from the regional station in the direction of Mainz main station.
At the basement of terminal 1 and at the long distance station there is a German Railway counter.
A travel agency is in the arrival area of Hall B.

From the station for regional trains:
From the long distance station (platform 3) the train
(S-train "S8" with destination Wiesbaden, RE- and SE-train to Mainz Hbf) takes 20-25 minutes.
The tickets can be bought at the Verkehrsverbund (RMV) ticket machine.
This tickets are also valid for the bus in Mainz (shortkey with destination Mainz/Wiesbaden or "Waben"-number: Mainz/Wiesbaden=65).
It is not possible to buy tickets in the trains.

From the station for long-distance trains:
The IC/EC und ICE-trains which start from the station for long distance trains (platform 6 and 7) take 15 minutes to Mainz.
Tickets can be bought at DB-ticket machines, DB-counters or inside the train. Due to the additional fee they are more expensive.

Once arrived at "Mainz Hauptbahnhof", continue by taxi or by bus.
