Confocal microscopy image with a piece of plasma modified non-woven polypropylene. A bacterial live (green) dead (red) stain was used to identify the activity of P. aeruginosa, here the dead bacteria attached on the fibres.


The central objectives are:
(1) To develop anti-microbial surface coatings.
(2) To improve our fundamental understanding of how bacteria interact with and colonise surfaces.
(3) To understand how current analytical technologies can be used to obtain real-time information on the nano-scale mechanisms of bacteria-surfaces interactions
